So today I'm going to speak about Greenpeace which is one of the most organization known in the world. First of all, Greenpeace is a non-profit organization present in 40 countries in Europe, South America, North America, Asia and the Pacific. It now has nearly 3 000 000 members spread across the world. Founded by Canadian environmental activists in 1971, Greenpeace states its goal is to "ensure the ability of the Earth to nurture life in all its diversity and focuses its campaigning on worldwide issues such as climate change, deforestation, overfishing, commercial whaling, genetic engineering, and anti-nuclear issues. It uses direct action,lobbing, and research to achieve its goals To maintain its independence , Greenpeace refuses donations from governments and corporations . It accepts as its members. Greenpeace is known for its direct actions[and has been described as the most visible environmental organization in the world. Greenpeace has raised environmental issues to public knowledge, and influenced both the private and the public sector. As the world , Greenpeace is concerned primarily of the most critical environmental problems on a global scale as :
- The protection of oceans and ancient
forests ;
- The abandonment of fossil fuels and the
promotion of renewable energy to stop the disruption of the global climate ;
- Nuclear disarmament and the end of the
radioactive contamination ;
- Elimination of toxic chemicals;
- Prevention of the release of genetically
modified organisms (GMOs ) in nature.
To conclude, Greenpeace is one of the organization
known worldwide for its environmental protection.
